Joann E. Wuollet Obituary – 7/14/09

Joann Elizabeth Wuollet, age 74, of Cokato, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at the Cokato Manor.

She was born in Newton, MA Nov. 12, 1934, and grew up in Lexington, MA. Her fondest memories were of her family visits to Cape Cod and her love of the ocean.

Joann married Dean Lowell Wuollet June 5, 1955, in Massachusetts. After their honeymoon, they moved to live briefly on his family’s farm in Cokato, before moving into town, where they would live and raise their four children.

In 1970, Joann began teaching at Humphrey Elementary in Waverly, where she taught for 31 years. She was passionate about teaching, and it brought her great joy to reconnect with former students. She also enjoyed working the annual summer corn pack at Green Giant for many years.

Joann loved being with family and friends, was an avid stamp collector, a talented cross-stitcher, and enjoyed spending time at the library.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dean; and her parents, Elizabeth and George Fardy.

She will be missed dearly by her brothers, George and Walter; her children Margaret (Robert), Michael (Sheryl), Mark (Venesha), and Maryellen; her nine grandchildren; her great-granddaughter; her many friends and relatives; and her dear cat, Jack.

A memorial service took place in celebration of Joann’s life Saturday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cokato, with visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials preferred to Humphrey Elementary School in Waverly, or the Finnish Historical Society.

Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
