Tresa Irene Young, age 89, of South Haven, formerly of Kimball, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at the Lakeside Community Home of Dassel, where she was a resident for the past two weeks.
Tresa was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Meeker County to Timothy and Florence (Gilman) Miller.
She married Leo P. Young April 18, 1936, in Darwin, and he preceded her in death Oct. 8, 1998.
Tresa lived in Meeker County most of her life, where she and Leo farmed and raised 10 children.
Tresa was employed at Travelers Inn and Nortronic in Golden Valley.
She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Kimball.
Tresa enjoyed baking bread, pies, and donuts; playing cards, ice fishing, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Carol and Raymond Wagner of Dassel, Leo and Patricia of Coon Rapids, Douglas and Leona of Watkins, Dorothy and Joseph Wolter of Sartell, Mary and Robert Vannurden of Kimball, Elizabeth Bryant of International Falls, Patricia and Donald Linz of Richmond, and Darrell of South Haven; a brother, Chuck of Sun City, AZ; sisters Ann Nelson of Phoenix, AZ, and Mae and Al Harrison of Denver, CO; 37 grandchildren; 95 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Leo, Tresa was preceded in death by sons David and Robert; parents Timothy and Florence; a brother, Bud Miller; and sisters Lorena Stiff and Grace Hartinger.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Feb. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Kimball with Fr. Donald Wagner officiating. Frosty Schiefelbein was the organist, and the St. Anne Choir provided music for the service. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Litchfield.
Friends called Sunday, Feb. 1 from 3 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6 p.m.; and Monday, Feb. 2 from 9 to 10 a.m., all at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball.
Pallbearers were Adam Holm, Jordan Dietz, Jamie Pfitzer, Jordan Young, Timothy Krouth, and Jonathan Young. Honorary pallbearers were Catherine Krouth, Deneen Young, Irene Shoutz, Lisa Myers, Stacy Samuelson, Peggy Holm, Tresa Ringwelski, Dawn Pfitzer and Becky Darwin.
Arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Kimball.
