Marie (Olson) Abramson, 83, of Merrifield, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, following an 18-month battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Munising, MI to Gust and Ida Olson. The family moved to a farm near Foley, where Marie attended public school.
Following graduation, she studied for one year at St. Olaf College, and then moved to the Ronneby area, where she began her teaching career.
Marie married Albin Abramson Aug. 14, 1948. In 1952, they moved to a farm near Cokato, where they raised six children.
Marie resumed teaching at Lee School near French Lake for a couple of years, prior to completing her degree from St. Cloud State in 1969. She then taught at Delano Elementary for nine years.
Elim Mission was their church home, where Marie served in various ministries.
In 1982, Marie and Albin moved to the Mission Lake area near Merrifield. There, she was a member of the Ossipee Community Church.
Marie is survived by sons Verlin (Linda) of Sartell, Ken (Deanna) of Merrifield, and Doug (Cyndy) of Dassel; daughters Janet (Jon) Hall of Nisswa, Vernice of Cokato, and Phyllis (Brian) Warder of Ridgefield, WA; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six sisters; and one brother.
Her parents, and husband, Albin, preceded her in death.
A memorial service took place Saturday, Nov. 20 at Lakewood Evangelical Free Church of Baxter, with interment at Center Cemetery in Center Township.
