Delphine Mary Aritt, age 96, of Winsted, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at St. Mary’s Care Center.
She was born March 9, 1914, in Victor Township, Wright County, the daughter of Albert and Lucy Lueck Aritt.
Delphine was formerly employed at Jim’s Red Owl as a cashier for 34 years. She worked until 70 years of age, despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s at age 44. Delphine was also legally blind for the past 11 years.
Delphine had a great sense of humor, loved to play cards, was kind, honest, and liked to help the handicapped. She had been a resident of St. Mary’s since November 20, 2009.
A faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Delphine belonged to CCW and St. Anne’s Society.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Bernice D. Aritt and Irene F. Cantin, both of Winsted; four nieces; two nephews; great nieces and great nephews, great, great nieces, and great, great nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Delphine was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wilbur “Bud” Aritt; and a nephew, Douglas Cantin.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with Father Tony Hesse as the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a combined CCW and St. Anne’s rosary recited at 4:30 p.m., and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Casket bearers were Ron Phillips, Tracy Jaskowiak, Lee Penas Olson, Steve Olson, James Aritt, and Robert Shimanski.
