Denise S. Bebo, age 54, of Lester Prairie, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at St Mary’s Care Center, Winsted, after her long battle with breast cancer.
She was born Dec. 22, 1955, at St. Francis Hospital, Shakopee, the sixth child of Cyril and Shirley (Bailey) Aretz. Denise was baptized and confirmed at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne.
She was united in marriage to John J. Bebo Nov. 15, 1975, at St Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne. The couple farmed together for 34 years.
Denise worked at Tonka Toys in Mound until her daughter, Sheri was born. For 15 years, she was the receptionist at Lester Prairie Veterinary Clinic and enjoyed her job.
She was quick-witted, loved to tell jokes, and enjoyed playing practical jokes on her family and co-workers.
A faithful wife and devoted mother, Denise loved to spoil her grandchildren every opportunity she had. She will be missed by her family, friends and co-workers.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, the Council of Catholic Women, and the Holy Family Society, and a Winstock volunteer. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts, scrapbooking, taking pictures, growing flowers, bowling, shopping, and traveling.
Denise was preceded in death by her father, Cyril Aretz; and a sister, Karen Aretz.
She is survived by her husband, John; children, Sheri (Jesse) Hausladen of Montrose, Alan (Jennifer) Bebo of Lester Prairie, and Stacy (Brandon) Winter of Glencoe; grandchildren Brittany and Lindsay Hausladen, Ayla and Ella Bebo, Jacob Berg, and Jasmine and Allison Winter; mother Shirley Aretz of Cologne; brothers and sisters, Francis (Bonnie) Aretz of Oronogo, MO, Patricia (Mervin) Metcalf, Colleen Schilz, all of Cologne, Susan (Stanley) Bebo of Howard Lake, David Aretz, Russell Aretz, both of Cologne, Roy (Carol) Aretz of Lakeville, and Anna (Steven) Renne of Belle Plaine; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial took place Saturday, Jan. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Winsted with Fr. Tony Hess officiating. Interment was in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday, Jan. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, and continued Saturday morning two hours prior to the Mass.
Pallbearers were Michael Aretz, Ryan Bebo, Steve Bebo, Tom Bebo, Mathias Weinzierl, and Lincoln Hach Yellick.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
