Audrey Bergstrom Obituary – 9/20/2010


Audrey A. (Broberg) Bergstrom, age 89, of Cosmos, formerly of Paynesville and Dassel, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at Cedar Crest Assisted Living of Cosmos.

She was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Dassel, the daughter of Carl and Augusta (Mielke) Broberg. Audrey grew up in the Dassel area, where she was baptized at Dassel Evangelical Covenant Church in 1922, and confirmed in 1935.

She attended elementary school in Dassel, and graduated from the Dassel High School with the class of 1939.

Audrey married Ted Bergstrom II June 29, 1940, in Dassel. They moved to a farm near Grove City, where she and Ted farmed. This union was blessed with the births of three sons and two daughters.

Ted and Audrey lived on the farm until 1977, when they retired and moved to Paynesville. They shared 59 years of marriage before Ted passed away May 5, 2000.

Audrey was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she served on the church fellowship committee and was a visitation volunteer. She was also a member of the senior citizen center in Paynesville.

Audrey enjoyed traveling with Ted, and spending time near a lake. One of her greatest loves was being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Ted Bergstrom III of Sheboygan, WI, Shirley (Dave) Olson of New London, Richard (Roxann) Bergstrom of Grove City, Kathy (Bill) Oleson of Rock Springs, WY, and Bill (Debra) Bergstrom of Grove City; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Audrey is further survived by sisters-in-law Gladys Bergstrom and Delores Bergstrom, both of Litchfield; a brother-in-law, Alfred (Geri) of Anchorage, AK; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ted, Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Luanne Bergstrom; eight brothers; and three sisters.

The funeral service took place Thursday, Sept. 23 at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville, with interment at Atwater Union Cemetery in Atwater.

Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville.
