Richard F. (Dick) Day, Sr., age 69, formerly of Long Lake, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with lymphoma Saturday, April 10, 2010, at his lake home with his family at his side.
Dick was vice-president and warehouse manager of Day Distributing of Maple Plain, retiring in 2002, and moving to his dream home on Lake Sibley in Pequot Lakes.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rick (Jr); grandson Richard (III); daughter Kerri Marie Lewis; brothers Robert and William; and former wife, Connie Day.
Dick is survived by his wife, Marlene; children Cherie Day, Chris (Kevin) Schaffer, Cindy (Jim) Stairs, Dobber (Kelly) Day; stepchildren Vicki (Al) Austad, Bob (Diane) Wielke, and Mike Rand; siblings Milton, Stephan, Shirley Nash, and Bonnie Keller; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Dick will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service took place Saturday, April 17 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Maple Plain.
Visitation was Friday, April 16, from 7-9 p.m. at the church.
