Duane D. Dobratz, age 76, of Watertown, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
He was born May 3, 1934, in Watertown, the son of Walter L. and Lillian M. (Schoeppler) Dobratz. Duane was baptized at the Zion Evangelical Church in Mayer by the Rev. E.M. Bauer, and confirmed at the same church by the Rev. Lowell Gess.
Duane was united in marriage to Loree G. Johnson June 26, 1954, at the Evangelical Free Church in Watertown.
Duane was a farmer throughout his lifetime, and also sold Berg Farm Equipment.
In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Duane served on the school board at Hollywood District 264 for six years, and on the cemetery board at the United Cemetery in Mayer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loree; an infant son, Jon; parents, Walter and Lillian Dobratz; and a nephew, Roger Dobratz.
Duane is survived by his loving family; children Michael (Nancy) Dobratz, Paul Dobratz, all of Watertown, Linda (Richard) Johnson of Mound, and Steven Dobratz of Watertown; grandchildren Daniel Johnson, Jesse and Jackie Johnson, Chris and Mandy Johnson, and Lynda Dobratz; great-grandchildren Amber, Landon, Oscar, and Sydney; brother and sister-in-law Harlan and Carolyn Dobratz of New Germany; sister-in-law Yvonne Johnson of Watertown; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was Saturday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. at the Oster Covenant Church in Waverly with the Rev. Robert Ramphal officiating. Interment was at the United Cemetery in Mayer
Visitation was Friday, Oct. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and continued Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Casket bearers were Daniel Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Chris Johnson, Lynda Dobratz, Robert Dobratz, and Cindy Dobratz.
Honorary casket bearers were Mandy Johnson and Jackie Johnson.
