Donavin Daniel Dodge, age 91, of Cokato, died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at the Cokato Manor.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, June 5 at 11:00 am. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, with visitation for one hour prior to the service
Don was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Rolling Stone, MN to Frank and Flora (Branham) Dodge.
He grew up in the Buffalo Lake-Hector area, where he attended grade school and high school. After high school, he worked in various occupations before he joined the Army in April of 1941.
Don was united in marriage to Edith Norum April 2, 1942. Seven children were born to this union.
After living in the Minneapolis and the Montevideo areas for 15 years, the family moved to Cokato in Stockholm Township, where they continued to raise their children. Don lived in his home until two weeks before his death.
He was employed as a foundry worker at FMC in Fridley, retiring from FMC after 27 years, at the age of 62.
Don enjoyed going to auction sales and garage sales, gardening, bowling, playing pool, and spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; his daughter, Linda Kohler; son Lowell Dodge; parents Frank and Flora (Branham) Dodge; sisters Evelyn Schmitz, Faith Gaines, and Maxine Ebent; and brothers Everett, Howard, Paul, and Keith Dodge.
Don is survived by his children, Dale (Diane) Dodge of Dassel, Larry of Little Falls, Lana Boerm (Gerry) of Robbinsdale, Steve (Debbie) of Brooklyn Park, and Danny of Cokato; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Homer (Margy) Dodge of Edina, and Earl (Pam) Dodge of Winchester, VA; nieces, nephews, and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral home of Cokato.
