Lanette Marie Erickson, age 59, of Cokato, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia from the complications of cancer.
She was born May 5, 1951, at Hutchinson, to Harold and Lorraine (Larmer) Thompson.
Lanette grew up north of Cokato by Cokato Lake, and attended Temperance Corner school. She graduated from Cokato High School in 1969.
Lanette married Rodney Erickson Oct. 4, 1969, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of French Lake. Three sons were born to this union. The family made their home in the Cokato and French Lake area.
Lanette worked for a short time at General Mills in Golden Valley, then 17 years at the Dassel Elementary School in the media center, and for eight years as a secretary at the Dassel-Cokato Middle School.
She enjoyed her family, and took great pride in being a mother and grandmother. Lanette also enjoyed her friends, music, and reading. Above all, it was her desire that Christ would be glorified in every area of her life.
She is survived by her parents, Harold and Lorraine Thompson of Cross Lake; husband Rodney of Cokato; sons Chad (Holly), Ryan (Nicolle), and Kyle (Lisa), all of Cokato; and grandchildren Morgan, Madison, Megan, and Leighton; Anna, Brett, Sam, Rachel, and Norah; and Wesley, Mason, Grace, and Ella.
Lanette is further survived by her brother and sisters, Bonnie (Paul) Nylin of Bastrop, TX, Ron Thompson (fiancée Kathy) of Fifty Lakes, MN, and Trudi (Gene) Westberg of Rochester; and by many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a sister-in-law, Holly Thompson.
Funeral services took place Saturday, June 19 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Cokato with the Rev. Ralph Erickson officiating. Music was provided by Jay Asplin, Brielle Kasanezky, and Lanette’s grandchildren. Interment was in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday, June 18 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, and continued Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Casket bearers were Chad Erickson, Ryan Erickson, Kyle Erickson, Ron Thompson, Aaron Nylin, Evyn Thompson, and Nicholas Westberg.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
