Derrolla Anna Fasching, age 91, of Winsted, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born June 15, 1919, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, the daughter of Ewald and Ferninda Terlinden Bettcher. Derrolla was baptized July 13, 1920, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by Pastor Baumhoefner; and instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith April 9, 1933, at the same church by Pastor Schert. Her confirmation memory verse was John 8: 31-32.
Derrolla and William Fasching were joined in holy marriage May 6, 1942. God blessed their marriage with four children.
Derrolla was formerly employed at Sterner’s and Holy Trinity High School as a cleaning lady, and also at The Blue Note Ballroom working wedding receptions.
She enjoyed dancing, growing flowers, and gardening.
Derrolla was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted.
She is survived by her loving children, Roger (Mary K.) Fasching of Dayton, Richard Fasching, JoAnn Fasching, and Debbie (Art) Schlagel, all of Winsted; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters Violet Tonn of Eau Claire, WI, Della Stender, Florence Klaustermeier, both of Lester Prairie, Carol Adams of Chaska, and Betty (Gene) Miller of Cologne; a brother, John (Dorothy) Bettcher of Lester Prairie; and other relatives and friends.
Derrolla was preceded in death by her parents, Ewald and Ferninda Bettcher; her husband, William Fasching, in 1961; brothers Victor and Juergen Bettcher; sisters Eunice Wainwright and Evangeline Fasching; a great-granddaughter, Geneva Fasching; a great-grandson, Tanner Fasching; and a son-in-law, Eugene “Gene” Fasching.
Funeral services took place Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted, with interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 5 from 1 to 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted; and continued from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
Honorary casket bearers were Derrolla’s grandson, Troy Fasching; and granddaughters Pam Cwach, Yvette Dockendorf, and Allison Schlagel.
Casket bearers were grandsons Paul Fasching, Brian Fasching, Ted Fasching, Terry Fasching, Nathan Schlagel and Brandon Schlagel.
