Jennifer Kay (Sturges) Fisk, age 59, of Orono, passed into her new life without pain Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010.
She was born March 1, 1950, and graduated from Edina High School.
Jenny attended Hamline University, and graduated from Valdosta State University in Georgia in 1972, after marrying Jim Sept. 18, 1971, and traveling with him to Georgia with the Air Force.
Jenny loved music. She spent many years sharing her beautiful alto voice in numerous choral groups throughout her high school, college and adult years. An active member of the Bach Society and the Minnesota Chorale, Jenny was passionate about her music. It gave her and others great joy.
During her active years, Jenny loved to ski, swim, hike, golf and travel. She participated fully until she was limited by her health condition.
Jenny faced her health challenges bravely and they never prevented her from supporting her kids; she was their number-one fan. You could spot her in the stands on a regular basis: cheering, passing out goodies, and showing her support every step of the way.
The family cabin on Lake Windigo was so special to Jen; this is where she enjoyed her family to the fullest and provided the warmth, laughter and love that was uniquely hers. Jenny loved her family fiercely and this love was returned manyfold.
Jenny is survived by her parents, Dr. Robert and Audrey Sturges of Bloomington; her loving husband of 38 years, Jim; and devoted children, Rob (age 30), Allie (age 28), and Tommy (age 19).
She is further survived by sisters Peg (Denny) Hoff and Deborah (Bill) Howell; nephews Andy Gothro, Chris Gothro, and Blake Sewell-Howell; and a long line of canine companions that gave her such happiness.
A memorial service took place Friday, Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. at Colonial Church of Edina.
Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel.
Memorials preferred to the MN Chorale.
