James D. Goepfert Obituary – 1/13/2010


James Dean “Hurricane” Goepfert, age 53, of Cokato, was called home Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010.

A celebration of Jim’s life will take place Monday, Jan. 18 at 3 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.

Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 17 at 4 p.m. at Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.; and will continue Monday for one hour prior to the celebration of life at the church.

The Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato is handling the arrangements.

Jim was born Nov. 18, 1956, to Stan and Joyce Goepfert.

He was joined in marriage to Ella Knoll in 1978. They were blessed with two beautiful girls, Lorelei (Tim) Sullivan and Odilia (Alex) Lindstrom.

In 1991, Jim met and married his soulmate, Cyndi.

Jim enjoyed his life. He spent time with his family, hunting, and fishing up north. He was very witty and would always put a smile on your face.

Jim loved to play with his grandchildren, liked a good party, and enjoyed playing horseshoes, cards, and cribbage with his friends.

He also enjoyed Native American art and heritage. He was a very spiritual and intuitive man.

Jim was preceded in death by his father; and a grandson, Ethan.

He is survived by his mother; wife; daughters; brothers Dick (Judy) and Tom (Paulette); six grandchildren, Tylor, Paige, and Zachary Sullivan, and Jeanne, James, and John Lindstrom; along with countless nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
