Leon “Lee” Andrew Helmbrecht, age 56, of Winsted, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010.
He was born May 16, 1953, in Watertown, the son of Kenneth and Marilyn Quast Helmbrecht.
Lee graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1972. Following graduation, he attended diesel mechanic school in Hutchinson.
He was employed as a truck driver for Brose Farms in rural Howard Lake.
Lee enjoyed camping, fishing, deer hunting, working on cars, and restoring antique cars. He was a good handyman and helped many people. Lee was a hard worker.
He is survived his children: Troyd Helmbrecht of Kimball, Felecia Williams of Cokato, Justin Helmbrecht of Silver Lake, and Elise Helmbrecht of Hutchinson; his mother, Marilyn Helmbrecht of Winsted; twin brother Loren Helmbrecht; brother Joe (Sue) Helmbrecht, all of Howard Lake; a sister, JoAnn (Dale) Lachermeier of Lester Prairie; and other relatives and friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Helmbrecht; his father, Kenneth Helmbrecht; a brother, Keith Helmbrecht; and by his grandparents, Louis and Caroline Helmbrecht, Andrew Quast, Ida Quast Roufs, and George Roufs.
A memorial service took place Saturday, May 1 at 11 a.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a time of gathering from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Father Tony Hesse officiated, and readings were by Edmund Nowak. Private interment was at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
