John “Joe” Hermerding, age 81, of Crosslake, MN, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at his home.
Services took place Friday, March 19 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes with the Rev. Frank Milo officiating. Interment was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
John was born May 7, 1928, at Clemens, MN, son of the late Walter and Mathilda (Reetz) Hermerding.
He graduated from Howard Lake High School.
John entered the US Army and served in Korea.
Following his honorable discharge, he was united in marriage to Mabel Vergin Jan. 17, 1953, in Buffalo.
After retirement, they moved to Duck Lake in Ideal Township, where John was a resident till his death.
He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, and enjoyed his family and grandchildren, hunting, fishing, feeding wildlife, working on his lawn, boating and reading.
John is survived by his wife, Mabel; son Gregg (Connie) Hermerding of Buffalo; daughter Kay (Rick Kubik) of White Bear Lake; four grandchildren: Bryan (Katie), Merilee, Joseph (Ellora), and Abbie; great-granddaughter Norah; two brothers, Leland (Cathy) Hermerding of Sioux Falls, SD, and Walter Hermerding of Crosslake; a sister, Darlene (Donald) Dammann of Glencoe; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Hermerding of Edina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald; and a sister, Delores Dehnbostel.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
