Lynda A. Jensen Obituary – 6/15/2010


Lynda Anne (Schreiffels) Jensen, age 42, of Dassel, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

She was born April 2, 1968, at the St. Cloud Hospital, the daughter of Allen and Judie (Olson) Schreiffels. Lynda grew up in St. Cloud, and graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1986.

Upon graduating from high school, she attended St. Cloud State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications in 1991.

Lynda was united in marriage to Brian Jensen Oct. 2, 1993, at the Pleasant Valley Ski Lodge in Gary, SD. They made their home in South Dakota, before moving to Dassel.

Lynda was the editor of the Gary Interstate newspaper in Gary, SD, before she was employed as a reporter at the Dassel-Cokato Enterprise Dispatch, and later became editor for the Herald Journal and Enterprise-Dispatch newspapers.

Lynda enjoyed spending time with her family, and considered her children to be one of her greatest accomplishments in her life. She enjoyed her work and took great pride in her journalistic endeavors.

She could often be found working in her garden, or pursuing other creative talents such as writing, taking pictures, creating graphic designs, and scrapbooking.

Lynda had a great heart and spent many hours volunteering as her church secretary, and with the Howard Lake Historical Society. She had also volunteered for many other projects in the Dassel-Cokato area.

Lynda’s final act was one of heroism when she donated her organs and tissues so that others, who have loved ones, may live.

She will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege to know her.

Lynda is survived by her husband, Brian Jensen of Dassel; children, Latrice, Bryce, and Brianna Jensen, all of Dassel; mother Judie Bukovich of Sartell; siblings Virginia Kaczmarek of Northfield, Jeff Schreiffels of St. Cloud, and Melissa (Mike) Huberty of Fridley; and her maternal grandparents.

She was preceded in death by her father, Allen Schreiffels; and her paternal grandparents.

The funeral service took place Saturday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Dassel with Pastor Billy Wallace officiating. Interment was at the Dassel Community Cemetery.

Visitation was Friday evening, June 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Dassel, and continued Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.

The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel handled the arrangements.
