Gary W. Jopp, age 63, of Mayer, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Gary was born March 7, 1947. in Watertown, the son of Wallace R. and Bernett P. (Mueller) Jopp. He was baptized March 30, 1947, at St. John Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. W.L. Ernst.
A loving son, brother, uncle and great-uncle, Gary will be remembered for his love, welcoming personality, hugs, and enjoyment of magazines, picture puzzles, the outdoors, and music.
Gary was a student at Choice Inc. in St. Bonifacius.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Jopp; brother-in-law Eric Bodine; grandparents Robert and Selma Jopp, and Emil and Erna Mueller; and aunts and uncles Alden Jopp, Vernon and Loretta Jopp, Elmer Heckmann, and Wilmar Mueller.
Gary is survived by his loving family: mother Bernett Jopp of Mayer; sister Jeannie Jopp Bodine of New Germany; and brothers and sisters-in-law Bob and Marlene Jopp of Mayer, Ron Jopp of Mayer, Randy and Renee Jopp of New Germany, Rickie and Colleen Jopp, and Phillip Jopp, all of Mayer.
He is further survived by nieces and nephews Alan and Teresa Jopp, Aaron and Michelle Jopp, Carla and Tim Barth, David Rettler, Adam Jopp, Sarah Jopp, Rachel Jopp, Elizabeth Jopp, Ryan Jopp, Heather Jopp, Krista Jopp, and Alicia Jopp; great-niece Grace Barth; aunts and uncles Irene Jopp of Mayer, Mathilda Heckmann of Norwood Young America, Orla Mueller of Watertown, Harlan and Joan Mueller of Buffalo, and Charles and Carrie Mueller of Anoka; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was Sunday, June 13 at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hollywood Township, New Germany with visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Robert Rupprecht officiated, and interment was at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Alan Jopp, Aaron Jopp, David Rettler, Tim Barth, Adam Jopp, and Ryan Jopp. Honorary casket bearers were Carla Barth, Sarah Jopp, Rachel Jopp, Elizabeth Jopp, Heather Jopp, Krista Jopp, and Alicia Jopp.
