Doris Marie Kotila, age 87, of Cokato, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2010, at the Cokato Manor.
She was born Dec. 27, 1922, on the farm in French Lake Township, to Louis and Myrtle (Erickson) Larson. Doris was baptized Feb. 9, 1923, by the Rev. Bongfeldt; and confirmed at the Grace Lutheran Church.
She attended Lee School and graduated from Annandale High School.
Doris married George Kotila Feb. 24, 1945. They farmed together on the same place their entire life.
Doris enjoyed music and the piano. She liked to travel, and enjoyed quilting, gardening, and visiting. She especially enjoyed her family and friends.
Doris was a member of the North Crow River Lutheran Church, and served on the Temperance Corner School board for many years.
She is survived by her sons, Harlan (Robin), Gordon (Shannon), and Paul (Gloria); nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernest (Dorothy) Larson; and sisters Marilyn (Glenn) Bakeberg, and Carol (John) Kelly.
Doris was preceded in death by; her husband, George; her parents, Louis and Myrtle; stepfather Kenneth Spencer; and brother Norman.
The funeral service took place Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. at North Crow River Lutheran Church, rural Cokato, with the Revs. Michael Nelson and Jerry Seehusen officiating. Music was provided by Harvey Peterson, Glenda Peterson, Becky Hungerford, and Karen Latt. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Doris’ grandchildren were her casket bearers.
Arrangements were handled by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
