Leslie Earl Kotila, age 55, of Howard Lake, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at his home.
He was born Feb. 7, 1955, in Cokato, the son of Earl and Betty (Johnson) Kotila. Leslie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Finnish Apostolic Church in Cokato.
He graduated from Dassel-Cokato High School in 1973, a member of the first Dassel-Cokato High School graduating class. Les furthered his education at St. Cloud Vocational School in the instrumentation technology field, and was currently employed at Spectralytics in Dassel.
Leslie was married to Carolyn Kalwayat Aug. 7, 1976, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. Their 34 years together was blessed with the birth of a son.
Les enjoyed fishing and hunting. Family, friends, and his grandsons were all very important to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Kotila.
Leslie is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son Travis and daughter-in-law Sara; grandsons Alexandr and Nathan; mother Betty and stepfather Richard Constenius; three brothers, Ken (Joanne) Kotila, Garret Constenius, and Brian (Carol) Constenius; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
A memorial service took place Saturday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, with visitation preceding the service, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Officiating at the celebration of Leslie’s life were the Revs. Michael Nirva and Martin Schoenfeld. Diane Johnson served as organist.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake.
