Kathryn Ann Laager, age 70, of Montrose, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at her home, following a brave battle against cancer.
She was born Sept. 1, 1939, in Buffalo, the daughter of Clarence and E. Florence (Holland) Rose. Kathryn was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buffalo Sept. 24, 1939, by the Rev. Erwin Berwald; and confirmed in her faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township, May 17, 1953, by the Rev. H.E. Bentrup.
She grew up in Maple Lake and moved to Columbia Heights when she was employed by Sears. After 28 years with Sears, Kathryn continued her career at the Target offices. Upon retirement, she moved to Montrose to be close to her family.
Painting plates and jewelry were among her special talents, along with sewing. Her favorite pastimes included bowling and being a Minnesota Twins fan.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and E. Florence Rose; a sister, Karen Klugow; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Yager.
She is survived by her sister, Gayle Yager; nieces Connie (Chris) Johnson of Cokato, and Jodi (Greg) Yee of California; nephew Kurt (Leah) Yager of Buffalo; great-nieces; great-nephews; great-great triplet nieces; and many relatives and friends.
A memorial service and celebration of Kathryn’s life took place Thursday, July 22 at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake with the Revs. Michael Nirva and Martin Schoenfeld officiating. Nancy Butterfass served as organist.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
