Ambrose Lewandowski, 89

Ambrose J. Lewandowski, age 89, of Winsted, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Hutchinson Area Health Care.

He was born Aug. 12, 1921, in Winsted Township, McLeod County, the son of Adalbert “George” and Anastasia “Nancy” Cacka Lewandowski.

Ambrose was joined in holy marriage with Dolores M. Neumann Oct. 26, 1943, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with three children.

Ambrose and Dolores engaged in dairy farming for 40 years in Victor and Stockholm townships, Wright County. They sold their dairy cattle April 1, 1983.

Ambrose was known throughout the local area for his old tyme music. He and Dolores were members of the Playmore Dancers and the Polka Club of America.

A faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Ambrose also belonged to Knights of Columbus Council 8253 in Winsted, and Knights of Columbus Council 1841 in Silver Lake, for many years.

He is survived by his loving children: Joyce (Don) Schultz of Winsted, Larry (Laurie) Lewandowski of Detroit Lakes and Patricia “Pat” (Mike) Kelly of Cokato; seven grandchildren: Craig (Ann) Schultz, Brian (Amy) Schultz, Tracy (David) Rea, Gina (Barry) Simonson, Wade (Amber) Lewandowski, Quinn (Lana) Kelly, and Jessica (Richard) Hom; 10 great-grandchildren; Stephanie and Alex Schultz, Caroline and Nathan Schultz, Gavin and Owen Simonson, Taya, Briehyn, and Lilly Lewandowski, and Madison Rea; a sister, Clara McMahon of St. Paul; and other relatives and friends.

Ambrose was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dolores Oct. 21, 2006; his parents; and by three siblings: Codie Barrett, and Ernie and Tom Lewandowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Oct. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with Father Tony Hesse as the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Visitation was Wednesday, Oct. 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a Knights of Columbus rosary recited at 7 p.m., and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Casket bearers were Craig Schultz, Brian Schultz, Quinn Kelly, Wade Lewandowski, Barry Simonson, David Rea, and Richard Hom.
