Ralph Edwin Martin, age 96, of Cokato, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Cokato Manor.
A funeral service will take place Monday, May 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel with visitation for one hour prior to the service. The Rev. John Peterson will officiate, and interment will be at the Dassel Cemetery.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of arrangements.
Ralph as born June 6, 1913, in Iowa, the son of David and Loretta (Zimmerman) Martin. He grew up in Iowa and attended school in the Dallas Center, IA area.
Ralph was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith, and was presently attending the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel.
He farmed for many years in the Buffalo Lake area, and also worked as a boiler room engineer for the General Mills Corporation in Minneapolis.
Ralph was united in marriage to Luverne M. (Lipkie) Saline April 28, 1979. They made their home in the Cokato and Dassel areas.
Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved traveling with Luverne around the US in their camper and Airstream. The family recalls the trip to Alaska that Ralph and Luverne took, spending all summer traveling to Alaska and back.
Ralph also enjoyed spending time in his garden.
He is survived by his wife, Luverne, of Cokato; daughter Lynn Kallio of New Hope; stepdaughter Paula (Tom) Hunter of Minneapolis; grandchildren Elizabeth Kallio and Mark Kallio; step-grandchildren Shelly Mattson and Erin Hunter; two brothers, Roger (Soledad) Martin of California, and Glennie (Kate) Martin of Ohio; and three sisters, Ova Wulkan of Minneapolis, Joyce Morelli of Ohio, and Betty Milbrett of Winthrop.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Charlyn; and two sisters.
