Lawrence” Larry” Brent McLearen, age 61, of Rockford, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at the Minneapolis VA Hospital.
He was born July 14, 1949, at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, to Lee and Mickey McLearen.
Larry attended Willow Lane Elementary School in Brooklyn Center, and graduated from Osseo High School in 1967.
He joined the US Navy in 1968, and was stationed at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA as a medic.
Larry had a love of music, which led to him forming a band, The Larry McLearen Dance Band. He also enjoyed the thrill of the freedom of riding his motorcycle, the “Honda-Davidson.”
Larry was united in marriage to Bonnie Johnson March 27, 1971, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Richfield.
The couple lived in Delano until 1975, at which time they moved to Rockford.
Larry is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children Chad and Lisa McLearen, and Darin and Teresa McLearen; two granddaughters, Hailie and Brielle; three brothers and spouses, Roger and Carole McLearen, Glenn McLearen, and Kevin and Jan McLearen; four sisters and spouses, Kathy and Steve Schum, Colleen and Doug Murray, Maureen “Becky” McLearen, and Dorren and Jeff Shrode; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Joe Waldherr; and sister-in-law and spouse, Becky and Dan Siekmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Mickey McLearen; a nephew, Kent; father-in-law and mother-in-law Ernie and Lil Johnson; and sister-in-law Betty Waldherr.
Memorial services took place Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Our Father’s Lutheran Church in Rockford with the Rev. Jon Rhodes officiating.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
