Lukas “Crusher” Andrew Neubarth, age 18, of Brownton, passed away accidentally Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, in Nevis, MN.
He was born Aug. 20, 1992, in Waconia, to William and Tammy Neubarth. Lukas was baptized Sept. 13, 1992, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop; and confirmed in his faith April 1, 2007, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownton.
Lukas grew up in Brownton with two older brothers, Nikolas and Zakary. He attended McLeod West elementary school, and was a senior at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop High School.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Lukas was also an excellent athlete, participating in football, wrestling, and baseball.
He greatly loved his family and friends, and was loved greatly by many, many people in his short life. He will be missed by all that were blessed to know him.
Lukas is survived by his parents, William and Tammy Neubarth of Brownton; brothers, Nikolas and his fiancée, Ashley Wahl, and Zakary Neubarth and his special friend, Mariele Lindeman, all of Brownton; a niece, Avery Neubarth; grandparents, William and Helen Neubarth of Winthrop, and Lee and Barb Groehler of Victoria; five uncles; five aunts; nine first cousins; a large extended family; and many, many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, LeRoy and Ethel Niss, Delbert and Rose Goedeker, Harold and Edna Groehler, William and Ida Neubarth, and Carl and Anna Lindstrand; grandfather, Loren Goedeker; and a cousin, Madison Villavicencio.
A memorial service took place Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, with the Rev. R. Allan Reed officiating. The organist was Dawn Wolter. Soloist Lucy Newcomb sang “On Eagle’s Wings.” Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” “Children Of The Heavenly Father,” and “Crown Him With Many Crowns.”
Nikolas Neubarth and Zakary Neubarth were urn bearers. Honorary bearers were Tommy Plendl, Corey McCoy, Colton Draeger, and Brandon Lindeman.
