Holdrein Oelke, age 93, of Howard Lake, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
His funeral will be Wednesday, July 14 at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, with interment at the Howard Lake Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be at Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake Tuesday, July 13 from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and will continue Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or the Park View Technology Fund.

Holdrein was born Nov. 28, 1916, in Winsted Township, McLeod County, the son of Reinhold and Mary Stapel Oelke. He attended a one-room school and subsequently graduated from Lester Prairie High School.
Holdrein was united in marriage to Loretta Gabbert April 4, 1940, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake with the Rev. E. N. Seltz officiating.
Holdrein farmed in the Waverly area, and also worked at Mid America Creamery, Winsted; Van Dale in Long Lake, Sonstegard Egg Drying in Howard Lake, and assisted in setting monuments.
Holdrein loved his family and enjoyed their company. He had a passion for farming, gardening, fishing, and playing cards.
He helped others by delivering church service tapes until he reached the age of 90, and also provided transportation for friends when needed.
He strived to be a thrifty, honest, and caring person. He appreciated the help given him by friends and neighbors in his declining years.
Holdrein is survived by two daughters, Karen Bergmann (Wallace) of Normal, IL, and Carol Randall (Gyles) of Waseca; three grandchildren, John Bergmann (Carmen) of Bloomington, IL, Scott Randall (Alyssa) of Istanbul, Turkey, and Jill Randall of St. Paul; three great-grandchildren, Lance, Peyton and Brianna Bergmann; a sister, Vira Horrmann of Minneapolis; and nieces and nephews.
Holdrein was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta, in 1992; his parents; a brother, Oral; and a sister, Gloria.
