Lorraine G. Parks, age 92, of Richfield, formerly of Waverly, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at her home.
She was born Nov. 12, 1917, in Winfield Township, near Danube, MN, to Henry and Ida (Pankow) Grabow.
Lorraine grew up on the farm in Winfield Township, and graduated from Renville High School. She went on to beauty college in Minneapolis and received her license in cosmetology.
Lorraine came to Waverly to work for her future mother-in-law, Stella. While in Waverly, she met Delbert Parks. They were married Dec. 10, 1939, and made their home in Waverly.
In 2001 Lorraine moved to Richfield.
She had many interests, including golf, reading, knitting, and skiing. She was a 50-plus-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary of Waverly, was a former member of the Union Presbyterian Church of Waverly, and currently a member of Hope Presbyterian Church of Richfield.
Lorraine is survived by her children: John (Kay) Parks of Minnetonka, William (Donna) Parks of Bloomington, Jeanne Ewald of St. Paul, and James D. (Karla) Parks of Brooklyn Park; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Milton J. (Yvonne) Parks of Dallas, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ida Grabow; husband Delbert Parks; and by nine brothers and sisters.
The funeral service took place Friday, Aug. 13 at First Presbyterian Church of Howard Lake, with interment at Howard Lake Cemetery
The Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake handled the arrangements.
