Thaline B. Paschke, 82

Thaline B. Paschke, age 82, of Winsted, died early Sunday morning, June 20, 2010, at St. Mary’s Care Center, Winsted. 

She was born Aug. 31, 1927, in Sebeka, MN, the daughter of Walter and Sylvia Isackson Sporre. Thaline was baptized in 1927. She was instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith May 21, 1944, at First English Lutheran Church in Faribault. 

Thaline graduated from Faribault High School in May 1945.

She was joined in holy marriage to Russel R. Paschke Aug. 4, 1947, in Faribault.  God blessed their marriage with eight children.

 A faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted, Thaline formerly served her church as a Sunday school teacher and belonged to the Lutheran Women’s Mission League.

Thaline enjoyed gardening, flowers, birds, crafting and was a very artistic person. She had various collections that she enjoyed adding to by finding  a special treasure at many rummage sales, and she had a story for every piece!   Through the years, she also was a Cub and Girl Scout mother. 

She formerly was employed at St. Mary’s Nursing Home,  the Red Owl Store, and at the Edco Sewing Factory.

Thaline is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Russel R. Paschke; eight children: Steve (Mary) Paschke, David (Carol) Paschke, all of Watertown, Stanley Paschke, Patty (Jerry) Wemhoff, all of Winsted, Bonnie Fisher of Loretto, Connie (Tom) Schermann, Mary (Tim) Laxen, all of Winsted, and Wally Paschke and special friend Patty Adickes of Montrose; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by brothers Raymond Sporre of Faribault, and Bernie (Kathy) Sporre of Lake Havasu, AZ; sisters Delores Linse of Lake Havasu, AZ, and Mrylene Hayes of Carpentersville, IL; sister-in-law Marcella Paschke of Faribault; brother-in-law Bernie Keeley of Ocala, FL; and other relatives and friends.

Thaline was preceded in death by a grandson, Billy Wemhoff; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law Alex and Ida Paschke; and by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The funeral service was Wednesday, June 23 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted with the Rev. Mark S. Loder officiating.  Sharon Pingree was the organist. Special music was provided by Theresa Wemhoff and violinist Charlotte Scury. Congregational hymns were “I Fall Asleep in Jesus’ Wounds,” “There is an Hour of Peaceful Rest,” and “Open Now Thy Gates of Beauty.” Interment followed at the Winsted Public Cemetery.

Visitation took place Tuesday, June 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, and continued Wednesday, June 23 for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Honorary casket bearers were Dena Fiske, Jody Christensen, Jennifer Schmidt, Deanne Wemhoff, Chris Cardinal, Kim Schauer, and Kelli Paschke.

 Casket bearers were Jeremy Fisher, Brian Paschke, Joel Paschke,  Michael Paschke, Jon Laxen,  and Jacob Paschke.
