Mildred G. “Millie” Peppin, age 76, of Delano, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 16, 1934, to Arthur and Julia (Schmidt) Schumacher in Chanhassen.
Millie loved her family; spending time together was what was important. Trips up north, volunteering at church, or caring for others were big parts of Millie’s life. She was the consummate homemaker; canning, gardening, and preparing everybody’s favorites.
Millie was preceded in death by her son, Steven; parents Arthur and Julia Schumacher; brother Richard Schumacher; sister-in-law Yvonne “Vonnie” Schumacher; nephew Bill Schumacher; and her parents-in-law, Neal and Rose Peppin.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ron; children and spouses Mary Ellen and Pat Grossman, David and Kathi Peppin, Paul and Becky Peppin, Shelly and Joe Blanchette, and Mark Peppin and fiancée Lynn Anderson; and seven grandchildren and spouses Meghan Grossman and Eric Frahm, Abby and Ryan Wooley, Jenna and Brian Miller, Michael Peppin, Karly and Eric Schemenauer, Liz Blanchette, and David Peppin.
Millie is further survived by siblings and spouses Don and Bev Schumacher, Ralph and Carmela Schumacher, Marvin and Betty Schumacher, Sister Theresa Schumacher OSB, Rose and Paul Grengs, Julie Neddermeyer, Alicia and Skip Smith, and Lu and Bob Sheridan.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano with the Rev. Christopher Wenthe officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 25 from 4 to 8 p.m., and continued Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.; all at the church.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
