Verna E. Peterman, age 94, of New Germany, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at the Elim Home in Watertown.
She was born Aug. 19, 1916, in Waconia, the daughter of William and Lillie (Kuntz) Klatt. Verna was baptized in September of 1916, and confirmed April 13, 1930, both at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by the Rev. William Schneider.
Verna was united in marriage to Edgar Peterman Aug. 6, 1939, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by Rev. Schneider.
Verna worked at Tonka Toys for 23 years, and on the farm with Edgar throughout her life.
Verna and Edgar enjoyed going to Texas in the winter after their retirement.
Some other things Verna enjoyed were playing cards, crocheting, and knitting. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and visiting with many of her friends on a regular basis.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; daughter-in-law Sharon Peterman; sisters Bernice Molnau, Esther Melchert, Ruth Clausen, and Lillie Brandenburg; and brothers Karl Klatt and Willie Klatt.
She is survived by her loving family: sons David Peterman of New Germany, and Charles and Diane Peterman of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren James Peterman, Michelle Klaustermeier, Jon and Robyn Peterman, Lynn and Tim Baumann, Dave and Tami Peterman, Jeff and Alice Peterman, Matthew and Alejandra Peterman, Joy and Ryan Hulver, and Joshua Peterman; and great-grandchildren Blake, Nicholas, Jessica, Ben, Alex, Stella, Hannah, Morgan, Taylor, Jackson, Noah, Olivia and Julia.
Verna is further survived by a sister, Wilma Brueggemeier of Bongards; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Marjorie Klatt of Buffalo, Lorraine Klatt of Renville, Doris Campbell of Inver Grove Heights, Sam Gruttadaurio of Arizona, and Frank Williams of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Thursday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Revs. LeRoy LaPlant and Gary Klatt officiating. There was visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Waconia.
Verna’s grandchildren were her casket bearers.
