David A. Rannow, age 87, of Silver Lake, died Friday, April 16, 2010, at his residence.
He was born May 4, 1922, in Rich Valley Township, McLeod County, the son of Frank and Katherine Antowski Rannow. David was baptized as an infant at St. Adalbert Catholic Church.
He was joined in holy marriage with Helen E. Ruzicka Sept. 27, 1945, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with six children.
David was formerly employed at Pure Milk in Winsted, and later at Kraft Foods in Hutchinson. He served as union steward at Pure Milk, and was a longtime member of Teamsters Local 471.
David enjoyed woodworking, nature, birds, fishing, and was very artistic, especially drawing.
He was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, where he attended daily Mass regularly and was devoted to the Rosary.
David is survived by his children: Mary Kay (Virgil) Vacek of Glencoe, Sandra Radloff of Hutchinson, Gary (Noreen) Rannow of Silver Lake, Patti (Jim) Lowinske of Hutchinson, Dale (Shari) Rannow, and Dean (Chris) Rannow, all of Silver Lake; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen E. Rannow, Aug. 20, 2005; his parents, Frank and Katherine Rannow; a grandchild; a brother, George; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, April 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Father Brian Oestreich was the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Family Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday, April 18 at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake from 5 to 7 p.m., with parish prayers at 7 p.m.
Casket bearers were David and Matt Vacek, Dan Radloff, Steve Schuft, Beth Rumrill, and Jason Chrast.
The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake served the family.
