Virginia A. “Ginny” Rieland, age 83, of Mound, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Charles and Elsa (Schramm) Lohrke. Virginia was baptized Sept. 4, 1927, and confirmed April 6, 1941, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown Township by the Rev. Karl Rudolph.
Virginia was united in marriage to Wilfred A. Rieland Jan. 18, 1947, by the Rev. Waldemar Lohrke. Two children were born to this marriage, Steven Charles and Suzanne Marie.
Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred “Willie” Rieland; parents Charles and Elsa Lohrke; sisters and brothers-in-law Sylvia and Conrad Marth, and Irma and Leo Psyck; and brothers and sisters-in-law Royal and Henrietta Lohrke, and Rev. Waldemar and Wilma Lohrke
She is survived by her loving family; son and daughter-in-law Steven and Sophie Rieland of Mound; daughter Suzanne “Sue” Rieland and partner Susan Braun of Rochester; grandchildren Chris and Janelle Rieland, and Sarah and Nick Sundahl; great-granddaughter Paige Rieland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Viola and Julius Hardt of Maple Plain, Luella Russek of Delano, Leroy and Mildred Rieland of Mankato, and Charles Rieland of Delano; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service took place Sunday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Watertown Twp., with the Rev. Bill Kirmsse officiating. Interment was at Delano Public Cemetery.
