Elaine Ruby (Anderson) Ruopsa, age 87, of Dassel, died Monday, June 21, 2010, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
A memorial service will take place Monday, June 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cokato with the Rev. Lyndon Korhonen officiating. Interment of the urn will be at the Lake Arvilla Cemetery, rural Dassel.
A time to gather with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church Monday.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is handling the arrangements.
Elaine, the daughter of Arthur and Senja (Soderback) Anderson, was born Oct. 17, 1922, in rural Dassel, on the family farm near Big Swan Lake. She grew up in the Dassel area, where she attended district schooling near Big Swan and later graduated from the Dassel High School.
Elaine was united in marriage to Ralph Ruopsa Feb. 12, 1943, at the Apostolic Church in rural Cokato. They made their home in the Kingston, Cokato, and Dassel areas, where they farmed for many years.
Elaine had worked as a furniture upholsterer for Richwell Furniture in Cokato, and helped with the farm chores.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and crocheting doilies and afghans.
For many years, Elaine wintered in Arizona and spent her summers in Dassel.
She is survived by her sons, Jon (Diane) Ruopsa of Mesa, AZ, and Ryan (Lori) Ruopsa of Dassel; grandchildren Kyle Ruopsa and Erin Fauzie; and siblings, Art (Mildred) Anderson of Cokato, Arnold Anderson of Dassel, Harold Anderson of Dassel, Carold (Lois) Anderson of Dassel, Louise (Lawrence) Kilpela of Cokato, and Margaret (Douglas) Engelson of Litchfield. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; her parents; and three siblings, Donald, James, and Mildred Nelson.
