Ermand Albert Schultz, age 82, of Cosmos, died Thursday, April 29, 2010, after a tragic car/semi accident.
He was born May 15, 1927, on the family farm in Brookfield Township, one of four sons born to Albert and Sophie (Kriz) Schultz. Ermand grew up and received his education at the Brookfield Township Country School.
He was united in marriage to Beverly Sayles April 4, 1947, at the Brookfield Trinity Church. This marriage was blessed with five children: Dennis, Carolyn, LouAnn, William, and Oliver.
Ermand and Beverly resided in Cosmos and shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
A quiet, gentle, caring husband, father, brother, and friend, Ermand was a farmer who farmed land and raised cattle, and enjoyed taking care of the animals. His hobbies included feeding and watching birds, reading, making toy harnesses for miniature horses, crafting wind-powered lawn ornaments that were made out of farm equipment, and collecting horses and carriages. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoyed going to Arizona in the winter with his wife. Ermand also loved going for car rides with her, especially if it was to Wal-Mart (his favorite store). He always enjoyed his candy.
Ermand is survived by his wife, Beverly Schultz of Cosmos; children: Oliver Schultz and wife Diane of LeSueur, William “Bill” Schultz and wife Karen of South Haven, Carolyn Nygaard and husband Wallace of Cokato, Dennis Schultz and wife Nancy of Casa Grande, AZ, and LouAnn Kulberg and husband Dave of Hutchinson; grandchildren Dustin Schultz (Katie), William “Billy” Schultz (Katie), Eric Nygaard (Theresa), Kimberly Grob (Justin), Tammy Nygaard, Ray Schultz (Shannan), Dale Schultz, Melissa Thomas (Richard), Mindy Mathews, Brittany Kulberg, Kim Mlodzik, and Ben Kulberg; and great-grandchildren Miles Rinn (Kulberg), Merrick Thomas, Campbell Thomas, Ella Mlodzik, Cassandra Diffely, Carson Guerrero, Will Schultz, Weston Schultz, Eithian Edwards, Bricen Nygaard, Preston Nygaard, Logan Nygaard, Brennan Nygaard, Seth Grob, Breah Grob, Mathew Schultz, and Kaitlyn Schultz.
He is further survived by two brothers, Herb Schultz of Willmar, and Arnie Schultz and his wife, Twila of Ottumwa, IA; and by his nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends.
Ermand was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Sophie Schultz; a brother, Leo Schultz; and by his sisters-in-law, Judy Schultz and Earlene Schultz.
A visitation took place Friday, May 7 from 4 to 8 p.m at the Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. Funeral and interment will take place at a later date.
