Ross V. Siers, age 77, of Rockford, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at his home.
He was born July 17, 1933, to Harry and Anna (Reece) Siers in Wadena County, Minnesota.
A loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa, Ross was a longtime upholsterer and gardener in the Rockford area. He was a talented and creative man who loved to give of himself and his work.
Ross is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norie; children Joe (Lisa) Siers, Marcia (Michael) Slagerman, Alan (LaTina) Siers, Gordy (Julie) Siers, Monica (John) Hemming, and Michael (Carolyn) Siers; 17 grandchildren: Jeremy (Kristen) Siers, Matthew (Brenda) Siers, Janine (Brian) Page, Christopher Siers, Andrew (Frances) Lafferty, Kelly Lafferty, Maluhia Siers, Liam Siers, Kayla Goodridge, Kelsey Goodridge, Emma Siers, John Siers, Grace Siers, Maggie Siers, Letitia Siers, Daniel Siers, and Elena Siers; and five great-grandchildren: Theresa Siers, Benjamin Siers, Katelyn Siers, Carson Siers, and Natalie Page.
He is further survived by siblings, Don (Joyce) Siers, Pearl Wilson, Norma (John) Odden, Wayne (Fay) Siers, Evelyn (Bob) Balsiger, Dale (Joan) Siers, and Ruth Stiller; and sister-in-law Fay Siers.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Anna Siers; siblings and spouses Harry Siers, Willis (Bea) Siers, Fern (Ben) Gunderson; brothers-in-law Claude Stiller and Charles Wilson.
A memorial service took place Friday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. at Our Father’s Lutheran Church in Rockford with Pastor Jon Rhodes officiating. Inurnment with military honors will take place at a later date at the Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford.
There was a gathering of family and friends Thursday, Dec. 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., continuing Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., all at the church.
