Wayne Allen Snow, age 74, of Rockford, went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born Jan. 2, 1936, in Onamia, MN, to Loren and Evangeline (Taft) Snow.
Wayne served in the Marine Corps, retiring at the rank of staff sergeant.
He went on to a career with the California Department of Forestry, retiring after almost 20 years of service.
Wayne loved his family, spending time with them and talking to them. He enjoyed growing flowers for his wife, Cheech, because he knew she loved them.
He also loved playing cards, traveling, vacationing, four-wheeling, camping, fishing, and connecting with friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte (Robinette); parents Loren and Evangeline Snow; mother-in-law Marguerite Osborn (Hayes-Robinette); Walter Robinette; Phillip Robinette; grandson Patrick Spencer Snow; sisters and spouse Yvonne and Chuck Kutzler, and Lorraine Youst; and a son-in-law, Vincent Silvas.
He is survived by his wife, Cheech; children and spouses Wayne Jr. “Butch,” Rita Silvas, Rhonda and John Wright, Greg and Mary Snow, Kevin and Debbie Snow, and Loretta and Harold Bishop; grandchildren Lori, Selina, C.J., Sara, Gabriel, Jolene, Elizabeth, Zachary, Benjamin, Phillip, Emily Kathryn, Emily Hope, Cameron, Dustin, Juliane, Kayla, Rachel, Leah, and Jacob; and great-grandchildren Catherine, Ethan, Rhienna, and Hazel.
Wayne is further survived by his stepchildren, Laurie and Scott Kivisto, Carrie and Bill Matzdorf, Valerie Spicer, and Jennifer Virnig; step-grandchildren Brenda, Jeff, Jesica, Josh, Julia, Cole, and Shelly; step- great-grandchildren Rylie, Jesse, Jace, Grant, Chloe, and Makila; brother Gerald and Carolyn Snow; sisters April Johnson, and Crystal Snow; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will take place Tuesday, May 25 at 10 a.m. at The Promise Church in Hemet, CA. Interment will follow with military honors at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
The Miller Jones Mortuary of Hemet, CA will handle the services at Riverside National Cemetery.
A memorial service will be Saturday, June, 26, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at the Buffalo American Legion Post #270, 304 10th Ave. South, Buffalo, MN.
Arrangements are by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
