Brocklyn O. Spike Obituary – 9/13/2010


Brocklyn Oliver Spike, age 59, of Clitherall, MN and formerly of rural Maple Lake died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at his residence.

He was born May 21, 1951, in Monticello, the son of Delton and Lillian Marquette Spike.

Brocklyn graduated from Buffalo High School.

He was joined in holy marriage with Colleen A. Caroline Aug. 6, 1971, at St. John Evangelist Church in Little Canada.

Brocklyn formerly farmed in Maple Lake Township and worked for Mueller Pipeliners for 30 years as a construction foreman.

Five years ago, Brocklyn and Colleen moved to Ottertail County to a lake home.

Brocklyn enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, farming, sporting clay shooting, wild flowers, and gardening.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Colleen; children: Melinda “Mindy” Spike and Sean (Kari) Spike; six grandchildren: Garrett, Claire, Kiera, Jake, Luke and Ava; son-in-law Dan (Lynn) Zander of Howard Lake; his mother, Lillian (Dean) Randall of Monticello; a sister, Nila Spike of Coco, FL; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Zander in 1996; his father, Delton Spike; and by a brother, Pepal Spike.

Funeral services took place Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Buffalo with Pastor Joan McKenzie officiating. Interment followed at the Howard Lake Cemetery.

Visitation was Friday, Sept. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
