Jon Earl Sprengeler, age 56, of Darwin, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at the Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson.
He was born May 31, 1953, in Hutchinson, the son of Earl and Virginia (Hawes) Sprengeler.
Jon grew up in the Hutchinson area, where he attended school and graduated from the Hutchinson High School in 1971.
He was united in marriage to Linda Gillman Aug. 28, 1982, at the Vineyard United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. They made their home in the Dassel and Darwin areas.
Jon was self-employed as a truck driver for 30 years. He also drove a fertilizer applicator for Cenex in Hutchinson, and worked for the Hillyard Company in Hutchinson.
He served on the Meeker County Fair Board, and was a member of the Community Club.
Jon enjoyed spending time with his wife, snowmobiling, and tractor pulling, and was a strong supporter of the Minnesota Minn-E-Rod Association. He had helped his uncle and neighbor farm for many years.
He loved spending time watching old westerns, and always enjoyed a good conversation with friends. Jon will deeply be missed by his numerous friends and family.
Jon is survived by his wife, Linda Sprengeler of Darwin; and numerous friends and acquaintances.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A memorial service took place Friday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with the Rev. Gerhard Bode officiating. Interment of the urn will take place in spring at the Ellsworth Cemetery, rural Darwin.
There was a time to gather with family and friends Thursday evening, Feb. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, and also Friday, one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel handled the arrangements.
