Clarence ‘Pete’ Strey Obituary – 10/7/2010


Clarence A. “Pete” Strey, age 77, of Montrose died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010.

He was born Jan. 24, 1933, to John and Hattie Strey in Franklin Township.

Clarence was united in marriage to Deloris Golla Jan. 19, 1957, and this union was blessed with six children.

Clarence lived on the farm his whole life. As he helped his father with the farm, he knew this was what he wanted to do.

After Clarence retired from farming, he spent his time with his loved ones, fishing, playing cards, and enjoying time spent with friends.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Deloris; children Wayne Strey, Brenda and Randy Segler, Sandra and Dale Segler, Sharon and Ronald Roskowiak, and Mary and Joel Ernst; 16 grandchildren and spouses Jennifer and Fernando Sanchez, Amy Mattheis, Anthony and Nikki Segler, Patrick and Amber Segler, John Segler, Melissa Segler, Jessica and Brady Wolff, Amanda and Paul Merz, Rocky and Kristina Roskowiak, Jeremy Roskowiak, Alexander Roskowiak, Rachael Roskowiak, Cody Roskowiak, Cassandra Ernst, Megan Ernst and fiancé Scott Cooper, and Heather Ernst; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard and Joann Strey; and a sister, Helen and Jack Gardner.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Ellen Strey; his parents, John and Hattie Strey; a grandson, James Joseph Segler; and a daughter-in-law, Deanna Strey.

Funeral services took place Monday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. at Montrose United Methodist Church.

Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m.; and continued Monday for one hour prior to the services, all at the church.

Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
