Ruth Evelyn Swanson, age 89, of Buffalo, formerly of Annandale, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at her home at Sunrise Cottages in Buffalo.
She was born Jan. 8, 1921, in French Lake Township to John and Anna (Engstrom) Olson.
Ruth was baptized and confirmed at North Crow River Lutheran Church in Knapp.
She was married to Carl Ernest Swanson April 19, 1947, at the North Crow River Lutheran Church parsonage.
Ruth lived in French Lake Township on a farm until 1980, when she moved into town in Annandale.
In 2004, Ruth was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and moved to Sunrise Cottages in Buffalo.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in rural South Haven, where she was active in WELCA over the years.
Ruth enjoyed gardening, flowers, embroidery, and traveling and fishing with her sisters.
She is survived by three children, Roxanne Lunderby of Watertown, Brenda (David) Harkman of Big Lake, and Tim of Annandale; sister Mae Juul of Annandale; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; daughter Beverly Neuman; an infant son; granddaughter Amanda Swanson; son-in-law Gary Lunderby; sisters Mildred Olson, Corrine Johnson, Doris Myhre and Bernice Peterson; and brothers Clarence and Earl Olson.
Funeral Services took place Thursday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in South Haven. Interment followed in Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends called Wednesday, Feb. 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale, and one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the church. A prayer service took place Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were David Harkman, Brian Lunderby, Tom Harkman, Rick Kangas, Joe Eenhuis, and Greg Johnson.
