Lloyd G. Vinkemeier, Jr., age 61, of Cologne, died Sunday Sept. 5, 2010, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
He was born April 4, 1949, in Waconia, the son of Lloyd and Irmgard (Schmidt) Vinkemeier. Lloyd was baptized April 4, 1949, at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Township, Cologne, by the Rev. R.W. Rottmann; and confirmed April 7, 1963, at the same church by the Rev. John Melchert.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Lydene F. Noeldner April 29, 1972, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by the Rev. John Stehr.
Lloyd was a hard worker, starting out on the farm as a young man and continuing to farm by himself for a number of years. He enjoyed working at Senaca Foods for 26 years
He liked spending time with his friends, and loved being with his grandchildren. Family was very important to him.
Some of the activities Lloyd enjoyed were traveling with Lydene, fishing, and watching sports on TV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Irmgard Vinkemeier.
Lloyd is survived by his loving family: wife Lydene; daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Howard Zimbrick of Glencoe; son and daughter-in-law Leon and Sara Vinkemeier of Belle Plaine; grandchildren Charles Zimbrick and Amanda Vinkemeier; brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Ruth Vinkemeier of Cologne; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Loren and Darlene Noeldner of Clear Lake, Lowell and Joyce Noeldner of Cologne, and Larry and Diane Noeldner of NYA; uncle and aunt Reginald and Verda Vinkemeier of Watertown; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Saturday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Twp., Cologne, with the Rev. Eric Zacharias officiating. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Waconia.
Visitation was Friday, Sept. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, with a chapel service at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Casket bearers were Edward Vinkemeier, Harlan Vinkemeier, Ron Elbert, Dale Brinkman, Meldon Melcher, and Jerry Mohrbacher.
