Viola J. Weiland, age 84, of Mound, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
She was born June 8, 1926, in Mound, the daughter of John and Myrtle (Moline) Wicks.
Viola was united in marriage to Lamont J. Weiland Aug. 14, 1948, at her home in Crystal Bay, by the Rev. Harold Carlson.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Viola was a wonderful cook and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome when they came to her home.
She kept a daily journal throughout her life, and was very faithful about sending cards out for all occasions.
Viola loved feeding and watching birds.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamont; grandson Chad Weiland; parents John and Myrtle Wicks; sisters Dawnita Vogelgesang, Minerva Tesch, Dolorez Mathisen, Priscilla Langert; and brothers Quno Wicks and Carl Wicks.
Viola is survived by her loving family; children and spouses Linda and Larry Quaas of Norwood Young America, Barbara and Tom Heitz of Watertown, Monty and Shirley Weiland of Delano, and Susan and Delbert Meyer of Minnetrista; grandchildren Sharon and Darwin Roy, Don Quaas, Brenda and Rob Doboszenski, and Paul Meyer; great-grandchildren Nathan Roy, Tyler Entrikin, Megan Doboszenski, and Emily Doboszenski; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Bev Wicks of Big Lake, and Joyce and Donald Langert of Glencoe; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was Saturday, Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. at the Minnetrista Baptist Church in St. Bonifacius with the Rev. Jerry Fluth officiating. Interment was in the Minnetrista Baptist Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Donald Quaas, Paul Meyer, Mike Mathisen, Tommy Mathisen, Rob Doboszenki, John Wicks, Todd Vogelgesang, Steve Forness, Curt Wicks, Dave Anderson, and Troy Anderson.
