David Donald Winter, age 65, of Montrose, passed away at his home Friday, Dec. 3, 2010.
David was born Nov. 11, 1945, in St. Cloud, the son of Edmund and Aurelia (Becker) Winter.
He lived in Watkins, before moving to the Buffalo area 35 years ago.
David was a veteran of the US Army and was also a Legionnaire.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Buffalo.
David enjoyed deer hunting, camping, ice fishing, coon dog racing, and playing cards. He was also a huge wrestling fan, loved scratch-offs and the lottery, and enjoyed mowing grass and walking his dog, Maggie.
In 2007, he retired from the AME Group in Elk River as a cement truck driver.
David is survived by his wife, Barbara (Holm) Winter; daughters Kelly (Shawn) Mortenson, Tami (Dave) Berg, and Heidi (Andy) Donnay; brother Harold Winter; special sister, Paola Silveria of Brazil; and grandchildren Sammy and Zach Berg and Kayla, Luke, Hannah, Logan, Brandon, and Blake Donnay.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Winter.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation was Monday, Dec. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo assisted the family with arrangements.
