John Albert Adickes, age 67, of Montrose, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 13, 1943, in Silver Creek, the son of John F. and Jacoba A. Wichterman Adickes.
John honorably served his country in the US Army, serving in Vietnam.
He was formerly employed as a carpenter.
John is survived by a son, Jerid Adickes and daughter-in-law Katrina of Buffalo; a daughter, Stacey Colson and son-in-law Jesse of Rockford; six grandchildren; a brother, Joe Adickes and sister-in-law Lori of Montrose; a sister, Janie Mortensen and brother-in-law Orville of Montrose; nieces Patty Adickes, Jill Branson and Colleen Day; nephews Curt Schmidt and Steve Mortensen; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jeanette Schmidt; a brother-in-law, John Schmidt; and a nephew, Daniel Mortensen.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, April 14 at 4 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, with visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church. Interment with military honors followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
