Eleanor G. Adickes, age 87, of Montrose, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011, at the St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born May 9, 1924, to Joseph and Blanche (Fautsch) Gallus in Franklin Township.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Dayton Adickes May 1, 1943, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. This union was blessed with five children.
Eleanor was a lifelong farmer, working side-by-side with her husband, Dayton.
She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed growing both flowers and foods for the table. As an accomplished cook, she also enjoyed baking and preparing meals for her family and friends.
Embroidery was another pastime Eleanor liked, creating gifts to be shared. She also enjoyed watching the birds, and was always concerned that they had enough feed.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Bonnie (Gary) Foede, Pat (Randy) Roehl, Joan (Richard) German, Dennis (Nancy) Adickes, and Mary (Christopher) Smith; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings LaVern Johnson, Marge Jerde, Ralph Gallus, and Betty (Marvin) Rogers; and sister-in-law Dolores Adickes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton; parents Joseph and Blanche Gallus; and a brother, Donnie Gallus.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, June 21 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with the Rev. Frank Wampach as celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
