Bernice “Bunnie” LaVerne Anderson, age 89, of Wadena, and formerly of Dassel, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena.
She was born June 17, 1921, to Claude Carrol and Minnie Hulda (Mattson) Clement at their home in Collinwood Township, Meeker County. Bunnie received her education at Dassel High School, and teacher’s training in Hutchinson.
She worked for many years as a teacher, lino-type operator, and school secretary, and retired from the Dassel-Cokato High School in 1980.
Bunnie was united in marriage with Donald Alanzo Anderson June 17, 1941, at Dassel. They lived in Dassel until 1954, when they relocated to Bertha, MN.
In 1963, they returned to Dassel, where Bunnie continued to live until moving to the Fair Oaks assisted living apartments in Wadena in 2005, but her heart never left Dassel.
Bunnie loved music, working with numbers, fishing, and cooking, especially fried chicken. She looked forward to her family Christmas, complete with lutefisk.
Bunnie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents Claude and Minnie; son Richard Donald; brother Delmar Clement; and sisters Eva Tichy and Dietta Mattson.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Doug) King of Battle Lake, MN; daughter-in-law Rita Anderson of Bertha; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services took place Thursday, March 31 at 11 a.m. at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel with the Revs. Steven Olson and John Peterson presiding. Interment was in the Dassel Community Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Jodi Sand, Kathryn Burville, Lisa Jasmer, Rebecca Anderson, Tammy Johnson, Holly Anderson, and Jenny Davis.
Pallbearers were Paul Sand, Mike Burville, Lon Jasmer, James Anderson, Ron Johnson, Erick Anderson, and Paul Davis.
