Edward L. Andrist, age 53, of Dassel, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at his home.
He was born Jan. 27, 1958, in Zumbrota, the son of Howard and Marlene (Heldt) Andrist. Edward was confirmed and baptized at the Covenant church in Winthrop.
He graduated from the Winthrop High School, and then enlisted into the United States Army, serving from 1976 until 1979.
Edward was employed at a dairy processing plant and, for many years, owned and operated his own web design company, “Paradigm.”
He enjoyed spending time with his family, was a talented guitar player, and loved to write country music.
Edward was an avid outdoorsman and went canoeing in the Boundary Waters Canoeing Area whenever he had a chance. He also loved to play cards and had a running cribbage game with his sister, Angie. He loved his dogs and tolerated the cats.
Ed was a recovered alcoholic, with over 25 years of sobriety. He shared this gift from God by showing others how to recover by working the 12 steps. He also performed voluntary services as a group service rep, treasurer, area Webmaster, district committee member, sponsor, and dear friend. He will be greatly missed by all of his “Anonymous” friends.
Edward is survived by his mother, Marlene Blunt of Dassel; sisters Angela Ryan of Dassel, and Kathy (Ben) Danielson of Minneapolis; and stepbrothers Jeff (Heather) Blunt of Winthrop, and Mark Blunt of Gaylord.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard; a sister, Debbie; and a stepbrother, Greg Blunt.
A memorial service took place Friday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel. There was time to gather with family one hour prior to the service. Interment of the urn will take place at a later date.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel handled the arrangements.
