Janice Marie Barrett, age 71, of rural Montrose, died Sunday, Oct, 16, 2011, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 5, 1940, in Traverse County, MN, the daughter of Matt and Gertrude Gullickson Koltes.
Janice graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1958.
She was joined in holy marriage with Gerome H. Barrett July 28, 1962, in Tintah, MN. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Janice was formerly employed at the telephone company (Northwestern Bell, AT&T, Qwest) for 29 years.
She was a smiling, laughing person, who loved to travel.
She and Gerome moved to rural Montrose 10 years ago from Andover, MN.
Janice is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Jerry Barrett; three children: Becky (Tom) Burnham of Centerville and their children, Sofi and Grace; Brian Barrett of Montrose, and Cathy (Joe) Dolge of Champlin and their children, Kristen and Andrew; sisters and brothers Betty (Don) Dennis of Indiana, Dorothy (Dick) Shannon of Wisconsin, Jerome (Mary) Koltes of Andover, and Clifford (Peggy) Koltes of Wayzata; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a twin sister; Janet; a sister; Lois; and a brother, Billy.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Oct. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of St. Mary in Waverly, with interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, Oct. 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, and continued Friday morning, one hour prior to Mass at the church.
Casket bearers were Tim Koltes, Troy Koltes, Jim Shannon, Tim Cronin, Mark Barrett and Steve McKay.
