Yvonne P. Boogaard, 78

Yvonne Pearl (Scott) Boogaard, age 78, of Winsted, formerly of Marshall, passed away peacefully early Sunday, May 1, 2011, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

She was born Dec. 24, 1932, in Dudley, MN, the daughter of Clarence and Laura (Phillippe) Scott. She was raised in Dudley, and attended country school there until 10th. Later she moved to the Lynd and Marshall area.

Yvonne was formerly employed at Marshall Produce, Mike’s Café, Schwan’s, The Corner Bar, American Legion, and Michaels on the Main, all in Marshall. Most recently, she was a bus coordinator for the bingo hall at Jackpot Junction Casino in Morton, MN.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, playing bingo, playing cards, dancing, and listening to country music especially The Swinging Country Band.

Yvonne is survived by her loving children: Danny (Joanne) Boogaard of Lakeland, MN, Steve (Nancy) Boogaard of Marshall, Diane (Duane) Odenbrett, Laurie Boogaard, and Cheryl Boogaard, all of Lester Prairie; 10 grandchildren: Bryan Boogaard (Mandy Woltjer) of Winsted, Cory Boogaard (Brandi) of Chisago City, Nadine Meyer (Steven) of Hanley Falls, MN, Daniel “D.J.” Boogaard of Sioux Falls, SD, Nicole Boogaard (Jake Reiling) of Brooklyn Park, Brittney Boogaard of Fargo, ND, Melinda Odenbrett (Kevin Lachermeier) of Winsted, Melanie Becker (Gene) of Glencoe, Matthew Odenbrett (Cathy Boock) of Lester Prairie, and Eric Boogaard of Rogers; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by ex-husband Clarence Boogaard of Marshall; siblings Judy Johnson (Gary) of Heron Lake, MN, David Scott of Waseca, and Roger Scott (Cheryl) of Alexandria; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers Eddie Scott and Ken Scott; sisters Irene Hausman, Velma Lein, and Patricia Riley; and by a daughter-in-law, Dawn Boogaard.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, May 7 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with Father Tony Hesse as the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Visitation was Friday, May 6 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Care Center Chapel; and continued from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. There was also further visitation Saturday morning, May 7 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home.

Casket bearers were Bryan Boogaard, Darvin Heldt, Dan Henry, Tom Specken, Greg Chappella, and Gary Norman.
