LaVonne Darlene Burch, age 69, of Lester Prairie, entered her eternal rest Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at her home.
She entered her eternal rest peacefully in her sleep on the same farm that she was born and raised, farmed, gardened and loved in Lester Prairie. She passed away on her mother’s birthday, Dec. 5, and was buried on her father’s birthday, Dec. 11.
LaVonne was born June 10, 1942, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Harold and Ellenora (Fenske) Lempher. She was baptized as an infant June 28, 1942, by the Rev. Ernst H. Stahlke, and confirmed in her faith April 3, 1955, by the Rev. A. F. Vomhof, both at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
LaVonne received her education in Lester Prairie, and was a graduate of the Lester Prairie High School class of 1959.
She was united in marriage to Francis Burch April 20, 1963, by the Rev. A. F. Vomhof at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Lenise.
LaVonne and Francis made their home on LaVonne’s family farm, south of Lester Prairie. They shared 48 years of marriage.
In addition to being a loving homemaker and mother, LaVonne helped on the family farm.
She was a faithful lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, serving in many capacities including the church council, teaching Sunday school, and counting donations.
LaVonne enjoyed gardening, playing cards, dancing, reading, and baking. She especially cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Francis Burch of Lester Prairie; daughter Lenise Best of Plymouth; grandchildren Matthew Best, Nicholas Best, and Peter Best; sister-in-law Beryl Knudson of Freemont, NE; other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ellenora Lempher; son-in-law Mark Best; and brother-in-law Keith Knudson.
Memorial services took place Sunday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Eric Nelson officiated, the organist was Jane Holasek, and congregational hymns were “When Peace Like A River,” “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Just As I Am,” and “Amazing Grace.”
