John L. Cochran, age 64, of Wausau, formerly of Howard Lake, Monticello, and Pine City, died Monday, May 16, 2011, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after battling gastric cancer since June 2009.
John served in the US Navy, a Vietnam War veteran.
He had been self-employed in Howard Lake, and worked at NSP/Xcel Energy in 1979, retiring in 2005. He also owned and operated Grandpa John’s Charters.
Survivors include his wife, Karlen (Meier) Cochran, Wausau; three daughters, Amy Peters, Beth Cochran and Mindy (Bob) Verhasselt, all of Wausau; six grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy (Asplin) Cochran; siblings, Judy (Glenn) Mallak, Janet (Laurel) Anderson, and Gary Cochran; and other relatives and friends.
Services were Wednesday, May 18 at 1 p.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Monticello, with interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Visitation was Tuesday, May 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Home in Monticello.
Arrangements were through Brainard Funeral Home, Wausau, and Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Home, Monticello.
